About Lauryn Smith

In my artistic practice, I am driven to depict the complex pieces of human existence, focusing on the captivating interplay of emotions, expressions, and bodies. 

I create realistic, hand-detailed artworks that go beyond traditional mediums and integrate various mixed media elements into my artworks. Black and white can often serve as the foundation of my visual language, allowing me to emphasise the contrasts between light and shadow that helps to unveil the intensity of my work. Other elements include hand-sewn cotton thread and other materials alongside the intentional use of colour, that creates depth and texture in my pieces that allow for one of a kind artworks.

My art is not only a form of creative expression, but also a path to finding comfort and tranquillity. Passion fuels my creative process, infusing my work with an unmistakable authenticity that resonates with viewers. Each piece is a unique expression, capturing a moment, an emotion, or a fleeting glance that reveals the deep rooted beauty of our existence. 

Through my artistic endeavours, I  hope to inspire viewers and let my passion and talent speak for itself.
